In summary, a previously completely-unknown and pathologically-benign Zika was never actually measured in a single patient at the time it was theorized and then announced as existing in Brazil (for the first time) -- whilst indistinguishable from its biologic cousin: long-standing, locally-endemic dengue-fever. Separately, Recife's microcephaly pronouncements relied on incorrectly-templated standards aggrandizing an unfortunate set of births which were never proved or statistically documented to represent an actual increase over perennial and sporadic baseline, random occurrence. These two individually unverified and unverifiable, unrelated occurrences (Zika and microcephaly) were improbably brought together as one's having caused the other. Whereupon the media-floodgates opened, bringing a bystander-effect of more cases' being announced under a panic of two simultaneous epidemics. It took quite some time retroactively and retrospectively to piece together documentation that each leg upon which the Zika-microcephaly connection stood not had not solidly been constructed. That it has remained upright for this long implies its having been propped up, externally -- while funded perpetually.
